Real talk though, Link probably crushes most of Soulcalibur's characters. There's only two that I can think of where he might struggle with: Cervantes and Nightmare. Cervantes because he's a ghost, and the phantoms and poes Link has fought don't measure up. Nightmare because, last I checked, Link has never had to defend against his soul being eaten. Besides them, Link would waste most of the verse without too much difficulty. He's fought monsters and demons a'plenty, posesses powerful magic and a diverse array of weapons and items, and has plenty of holy artifacts.

im sure ive seen peoples (for the first sephi fight) doging sideway then spamming normal attacks. Also after the water tower cutscene you can just jump of it instead of taking again the ladder

I really really want Nintendo to incorporate Links fighting ability/style in this and Smash Bros into their actual combat system for LoZ. At least for Boss Battles and MiniBosses or some kind of unlockable "training mode" or sidequest. This looks so smooth and this is 20 years ago. I love LoZ but the combat is the weakest link 😂 in the whole series, meanwhile every other game gets it right. Imagine a bareknuckle brawl with Bokoblins and only pulling out his sword to finish them. Or Ganondorf having henchman besides Lynels (and more agile like Dark Link or Gerudo Warriors in OOT) that are formidable opponents.

My favorite soul calibur of all in the franchise. A character from my favorite game series. This game is canon to me in the Legend of Zelda. To me it’s after Majora’s Mask and Link is an adult and still is in Zelda’s service. After he sets out to destroy soul edge and finally brings peace to the same world, I got Mortal Kombat Armageddon and made a Link character so instead of transporting back to Hyrule, by mistake or destiny he is tasked with maintaining the peace between the realms in the MK universe. After he does Ganondorf is free and overthrows Hyrule and has Zelda prisoner. All hope seems lost for Link, but the allies he made in the SC world and MK world come to his aid, help him defeat Ganondorf and save Zelda. For all he has done Link becomes “the Hero of the Realms”. That’s my take on it.

This shit was dope when it happened, I think Iwata (or Miyamoto) at the time when it came out told Namco, "Link must win if he's to be in the game" which is why he's super OP, I remember this reveal leaked early in gaming forums which made Sony and Microsoft FURIOUS they later gave them Spawn and Heihachi as their exclusives late in development. I'll never know why 3 was PS2 exclusive, all I know is that it wouldve been cool to see another Nintendo rep in a future title (Maybe a Fire Emblem rep) , but it never happened as the series director left Namco after Soul Calibur 6.
